Statement of Need
Why North King County? We live in an area where poverty and struggle are often unseen. Low-income residents and at-risk communities like older adults, immigrants, LGBTQ and communities of color are prevalent in North King County but often do not have services tailored to their needs. The invisibility of peoples’ struggle, and the lack of large agencies, corporations, or city governments leaves human service agencies on a constant crusade to bring awareness to their cause and existence.
NUHSA provides the connective tissue that helps raise awareness and build cooperation among providers, our local governments, and community members to make the most of the services and resources available in our region.
Service Area
NUHSA was originally founded to serve the communities of Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bothell, and Woodinville, but has since expanded to include a broader geographic area of North King County and neighboring communities. NUHSA recognizes the need to connect communities and services across city and county lines to better meet the needs and reflect the experiences our residents.
